Power Platform fans will be excited to learn about the new capabilities coming to Microsoft’s Power Platform between April 2020 – September 2020. January 27, 2020 is the date set for Microsoft to publicly release their plans. The release plans will be published in English with the initial list of features to Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.  The release plan provides users with early visibility in order to prepare for the updates planned from April 2020 to September 2020.

EARLY VISIBILITY THROUGH RELEASE PLANS

As part of the new Power Platform release cadence, Microsoft deploys 2 release waves per year: Release wave 1, which covers features releasing from April through September and Release wave 2, which covers features releasing from October through March.  Learn more about how Microsoft is modernizing the way that they update Dynamics 365 and why they have chosen this model.

Key components of the Power Platform are

  • Power Apps
  • Power Automate
  • Power BI
  • Dynamics 365 – Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Field Service – built on the Power Apps/Common Data service platform

Early access for the 2020 release wave 1 April update will start on Feb 3, 2020. The preview features can be enabled from the Power Platform Admin center.

This early access provides you not only with an opportunity to view the update in your sandbox environment before it is deployed to your production environment but also an opportunity to experience the new features in advance so that you can confidently roll them out to all your users.

These preview features will become generally available on April 1, 2020, and by default will be deployed in all customers’ environments during the month of April.

Microsoft plans to publish release overview guides and videos during the early access period to help customers and partners on-board the new capabilities. Watch for these informative videos.

As you preview the new Power Platform features, if you have any questions or feedback, you are encouraged to join the discussion at the Release Readiness Forum in the Dynamics 365 community.
