It has been a busy and innovative time for Microsoft, between various announcements, purchases, and launches of new products.  Today at an event in New York City, Microsoft launched the latest addition to Office 365; Microsoft Teams.  This web powered chat service offers channels, or different chat rooms, designed to make it easier for teams of colleagues to collaborate. Also featured are “threaded conversations,” in which people can reply to comments, much like a Facebook thread. According to Satya Nadella, “Today’s announcement is core to our mission of empowering every person to achieve more.”

Last Spring, Microsoft mulled over whether or not to buy Slack, but in the end,  the decision was made to build rather than buy. Microsoft created Microsoft Teams to directly compete with Slack.   Referred to as a “Slack-Killer,”  we think Microsoft Teams will give Slack a run for their money.
