Businesses are always looking for ways to cut costs while keeping productivity to a maximum. Over the past few years, that has meant a movement to the cloud. Microsoft has been one of the leaders of this movement with its Office 365 and Azure product offerings. Now Microsoft is ready to bring two more critical applications to the cloud with Dynamics 365. Dynamics 365 is an expansion of Dynamics CRM Online with a Cloud based ERP application based on Dynamics AX. AX was not previously available as a cloud-based application.

A 360 Degree View

With the union of Operations with CRM, Organizations now have a 360-degree view of their relationship with clients, partners, and employees.

From within the Sales application, a salesperson can see the latest information about customer’s outstanding invoices, while a customer support person can gain insight into products purchased by clients. Field Service functionality allows for full visibility to on-site service calls, warranty repairs, depot management. Additional functions include Project Management, Case Management, Marketing Campaigns and more.

But where Dynamics 365 shines is its integration with Microsoft’s Office 365. Office 365 applications like PowerBi and Excel can be used for deep data analysis. The word can generate client letters using Dynamics data, Other core applications like Outlook can be used to track emails, calendar appointments and tasks against Account and Contact records in Dynamics 365.

But perhaps the greatest feature of interoperability between Dynamics 365 and Office 365 is the ability to create custom Applications that surface editable data from Dynamics 365. These applications can be created using a visual development tool that does not require coding skills. Companies will be able to create custom mobile apps so that salespeople and others always have access to the latest client data.

Another feature is integration with Microsoft Flow. Flow is like IFTTT, the automated workflow tool that links applications and web services together. An example of a Flow would be creating a new record in MailChimp whenever a new client is added to Dynamics 365. This automation keeps your mailing lists up to date. We can think of lots of ways that our clients will want to use Flow to automate processes.
